Rachel Khaw, Analyst

Applying economic analysis and clear communication to address complex problems in markets, competition and regulation.

Rachel joined HoustonKemp in 2026, after completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Economics) at Monash University. She was awarded the Klaus Abbink Honours Scholarship and the University Medal for academic excellence.

Her honours thesis, drawing on her interest in competition economics and industrial organisation, developed a formal model of platform competition to explore how content moderation and hosting decisions shape market differentiation, consumer sorting and welfare in ad-funded digital markets. It was selected for the Warwick-Monash Economic Student Papers series, which is reserved for standout undergraduate and postgraduate work.

Alongside her studies, Rachel gained hands-on analytical experience through internships in travel retail, hospitality and healthcare, building a strong commercial acumen that complements her formal training in economics. She further developed her communication skills through roles in public communications and marketing. Her multidisciplinary background enhances her ability to bring both commercial judgement and clear communication to economic analysis.
