Logan Smith, Analyst

Transforming economic theory into strategic solutions through interdisciplinary analysis and quantitative rigour.

Logan joined the team in early 2025 following the completion of postgraduate studies at Auckland University of Technology. He brings a broad skillset allowing him to approach complex problems with an interdisciplinary perspective. Prior to joining HoustonKemp, Logan worked at the New Zealand Commerce Commission, where he contributed to merger analyses, commerce act investigations, authorisations and market studies. This experience in competition economics is complemented by his commercial background from various roles in financial analysis, corporate strategy and market assessment. Logan’s diverse experience across different markets and regulatory frameworks enriches his perspective on the multi-faceted economic and commercial problems of both today and the future, allowing for the development of practical solutions that effectively and efficiently address real-world challenges.

Logan holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney as well as a Bachelor of Arts. His background in economics, government and international relations allows him to provide unique insights when helping clients navigate evolving regulatory environments and market challenges, both domestically and globally. Logan’s postgraduate research analysed competing stochastic models of behaviour for normal form games, demonstrating his ability to apply mathematical rigour to complex questions of economic theory. Beyond economics and commerce, Logan maintains a keen interest in global politics, international security and developments in science and technology. His multidisciplinary perspective enhances his ability to anticipate emerging trends and develop innovative approaches to economic analysis.
