Max joined HoustonKemp in early 2025 following completion of a Bachelor of Economics at the University of Sydney. His honours thesis analysed the generating behaviour of state-owned generators in the National Electricity Market using empirical data and sophisticated econometric techniques . Max is interested in combining these techniques with core economic theory to continue to solve competition related issues in electricity markets and analyse the effects of such issues on pricing outcomes and consumer welfare.
Prior to joining HoustonKemp, Max interned at PwC in the Energy Transition team, where he contributed to projects aimed at the decarbonising the Australian economy. This experience, coupled with his strong quantitative skills and enthusiasm for economic applications in energy markets, positions Max to provide valuable insights into complex regulatory, policy and market design challenges facing the electricity sector and beyond.
