Australian governments have committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050. A key challenge in meeting this target is transitioning the nation’s gas supplies to renewable alternatives. In this video Adrian Kemp speaks to Sam Forrest about the outlook for domestic gas use in the context of a target of net zero emissions. They discuss the current contribution of gas consumption to emissions, potential options for decarbonising gas use, the role of hydrogen and the possible implications for electricity networks. Irrespective of the pathway forward, significant investments will be required by electricity and gas networks and customers to support this transition.
