The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) maintains a ‘Reliability Portfolio’ through which funding is provided for projects that seek to improve the Australian energy sector’s capability to deliver reliable electricity supply from renewable energy. Ann Whitfield, Sam Forrest and Sam Pfeiffer were engaged by ARENA to perform an evaluation of the ‘Reliability Portfolio’.

The evaluation found that ARENA’s ‘Reliability Portfolio’ has demonstrated comprehensive coverage across a range of technology types, innovation phases, reliability needs and affordability impacts while identifying numerous opportunities for ARENA to maximise the impact of remaining funding allocated to the portfolio.
